I’m just a fruit on a vine
In the sun with all my friends
I’m doing fine
But one by one
Mr. Peach and Mrs. Plum
Have gone away for something fun I’m sure
Without me

But hey at least I’ve still got Mr. Carrot
As colorful and friendly as a parrot
Will they come for his life too
Or will they spare it?
And leave me here alone?
They wouldn’t dare it
Oh, I couldn’t bare it…

But I sure would hate to rot here
In my prime
In the garden of a woman
So divine
Every day she comes to give my skin a shine
But I’m pondering my ending all the time

Poor Mrs. Plum I’d hate to know
Of her demise
I heard they baked her in a
Plump and juicy pie
What a bloody purple mess
All over Miss Delacey’s dress
The garden’s lonely but
At least I’ve got my eyes

But the worst part is I don’t know what I am
A kiwi or a lemon or a yam
I’m sure I got this from my mother
How I’m nothing like the others
Mr. Carrot says he likes me how I am

And I haven’t got the courage up to tell him
But I heard that Miss Delacey plans to sell him
They’ll cut him down and shave him
Bleach him clean
And then they’ll save him
In a freezer in a bag in tiny pieces

I guess that’s just how humans like their carrots
Smooth and tiny makes
It easier to share it
And when they come I know I’ll have to grin and bare it
Cause if I try to change his fate I fear I’ll share it

I’m still just a fruit on a vine
In the sun
I’ve got no one
But I’ll be fine
I know that life is not fair
But there’s something else out there
And some day I’ll go and I’ll leave this place behind
