Justin Heim The soothing tones of Carmel are truly something to behold. This is one of the best artists I've found this year, without a doubt. Favorite track: Something Wicked.

How It Be 01:21
All the good ones wanna be bad And the bad ones wanna be badder All the sad ones wanna be glad And the glad ones wanna be gladder But in the end it doesn't matter Whether we sparkles or we shatter The words roll out from pen to paper And the water recycles back in to vapor And that's how it be in this life That's how it be I'm not a drunk but the drunk kids like me I'm not a punk but the punks don't fight me When I go to bed the bedbugs don't bite me I'm always tired cause I don't like sleeping And I don't care if you don't care what I gotta say Cause I listen to you everyday I'm honest to a fault Go ask my mother She's the one who taught me But she didn't teach my brother And that's how it be in my house In my house, that's how it be all rights reserved © 2016

Somebody's pickin the lock On Mr. Parkinson's blue door Somebody's shakin the leaves From the trees in the courtyard Somebody's singin a song From a far away place Somebody's turnin the smile To a frown on your face Is that you Standing in the doorway? Is that you Sleepin underneath the causeway? Is that you Wreaking havoc on the ones around you? Somebody's pickin the lock On Mr. Parkinson's blue door Someone found a knife in their pocket But forgot what for Can people still hear you comin If you got no soul? We can't unlock the answers Because cause somebody Has swallowed the key whole Is that you Standing in the doorway? Is that you Sleepin underneath the causeway? Is that you Wreaking havoc on the ones around you? When the air is still And the leaves hang toward the ground The vibrations in the earth hum louder When no one's around Thought you can't quite place it Something doesn't feel the same It's the winds of change Calling your name Is that you Standing in the doorway? Is that you Sleepin underneath the causeway? Is that you Wreaking havoc on the ones around you? all rights reserved © 2016

Hold on for salvation You're gonna keep hangin On to me until I let you drop Cause You know what I'm singin I'm bringin you Back to life with me Until you let me drop cause What ever happened? We love without discretion Until we learn our lesson We fall in love What ever happened? Without discretion We fall in love With beautiful scum You leave me barely breathin Hot blood from ho and heavin' Don't let go, no Heave and ho Does it mean nothing to you? I swear that I knew you Once or twice at minimum But I fell in love with beautiful scum What ever happened? We love without discretion Until we learn our lesson We fall in love What ever happened? Without discretion We fall in love With beautiful scum Still I got no regret Not even that we met Cause before you I never knew this love What ever happened? We love without discretion Until we learn our lesson We fall in love... What ever happened? We love without discretion Until we learn our lesson We fall in love What ever happened? Without discretion We fall in love With beautiful scum all rights reserved © 2016

Carbon Based 02:27
God is good God is great We rob the banks We copulate Thou shalt steal Thou shalt not kill But if thou wants to Then thou will As long as you know the error of your ways Father forgives you too For you know not what you do Let's not be silly, you know full well But don't worry cause there's no hell But if there is, sorry about that! Tell the devil I said hi What if there's only one god? What if there's none? What if it's all just a game And we're livin here for the fun? Well I'm not one to say Because I know nothing But that doesn't seem to stop anyone else You're terrified Because you coveted your neighbor's wife You closed your eyes And pretended she was yours To your surprise She came over To inspect your garden hose You left it on And it had flooded her petunias Need I say more? But father forgives you too For you know not what you do But if you do, that's alright too Just go to confession Wait... what? What if there's only one god? What if there's none? What if it's all just a game And we're livin here for the fun? Well I'm not one to say Because I know nothing But that doesn't seem to stop anyone else And father forgives me too Because nobody knows the truth Maybe I'm just a carbon based mistake Made up mostly of atoms And if I've offended you There's really nothing I can do I guess that I fall somewhere between magic & science Bum-ba-dum I guess that I fall Somewhere between Magic & science all rights reserved © 2016

Odd Bird 02:30
The early bird catches the worm And the late one's got a lesson to learn but Luckily I'm just the odd bird I know not of the opposing groups Of the loud or the silent The peaceful or the violent The small or the great The early or the late Cause I I'm sick of bein' lonely Maybe we could be alone together for a change And you I know you're sick of bein' tired Let me open up your eyes To the brand new life I've found, here in the middle Oh, people say you're flyin' too high Well I say there's an alternate sky Where some of us like to vacation When the earth gets chilly and morbid we sing a brand new tune About the loud and the silent The peaceful and the violent The small and the great The early and late the late Cause I I'm sick of bein' lonely Maybe we could be alone together for a change And you I know you're sick of bein' tired Let me open up your eyes Shake off the lies Break from the ties Wing in new skies The life of the odd bird Stuck in the middle Neither here nor there but we don't care About the loud or the silent The peaceful or the violent The small or the great The early or the late Cause— [whistling]

You're a prude, you're a slut What were you wearing when he touched your butt? I've got a feelin' in my gut they're asking the wrong questions You're a scoundrel, you're a mutt You don't fit in, you won't shut up I've got a feelin' in my gut they're gonna call corrections And I know why You don't buy the lies But I know you're not the only one who's Here in this body Just a souped up Maserati made of flesh and bone Until you go back where you started from You're a bride, you're a groom Is it destiny is it doom? Well if there's no answer soon, you don't have to worry Cause even if somebody told you Who you are and where you'll go to, with certainty You wouldn't believe 'em anyway So don't even try Just dry your eyes Cause I know you're not the only one who's Here in this body Just a souped up Maserati made of flesh and bone Until you go back where you started from Got a tortured soul With a big empty hole Where there should be a home But instead there's ribosomes Cause you're here in this body Just a souped up Maserati made of flesh and bone Until you go back home

My Glasses 02:57
Playing with the questions in the back of my mind Sleeping with a demon, waking up in the night Wondering if I will ever make my escape from the land of the living From the land of the fake I caught your nightmare, lost your dream Cut my losses, swam upstream Now I'm in the in between And where'd I put my compass? Following a figure with its hands in the air Walking toward the sun with a halo made of hair Wondering if anybody ever walks alone And if you really need a house to have a place to call your home There's more than you think, I think More than you think, I think Houses full of memories, houses full of pain Houses full of heartbeats, rotting in the rain A child with a round face peering out the window Sitting in a small chair, finger on the spindle Weave another widower, paint another shadow Listen for the footsteps coming from the meadow Stepping on the fallen leaves and snapping all the twigs But walks in to a bear trap before they get their digs There's more than you think, I think More than you think, I think Oh, how much is it to spend your time? Is it less expensive on my dime? Don't talk to me, I'm fine Just lost those rosy glasses Can't see the forest through all these trees Keep fallin' I scarred my knees There's more to see here, there's gotta be Now, where'd I put those glasses? Playing with the questions in the back of my mind Sleeping with a demon, waking up in the night Wondering if I will ever make my escape from the land of the living From the land of the fake I caught your nightmare, lost your dream Cut my losses, swam upstream And ow I'm in the in between And where'd I put my compass? My glasses, my glasses Where'd I put my compass?

Sometimes you might get drunk before the sun goes down Worse yet, drunk off somebody else's beer Or maybe you forgot that lady had a boyfriend And you asked her out to dinner without fear You can't always say the right thing And you can't always do it either Often times I think you'll find that you do neither Cause a mammal's a mammal A human's an animal even if we can wear hats An ache is an ache, in the heart or the face And you can't fill the space with your cats It's hard to get by when you try and you try And they're lockin' you up in a cell But the thought means the most, even when you're a ghost Someone will remember you well Oh, everybody wants a piece of the corporate pie Everybody wants to feel love before they die But nobody knows what's out there beyond the sky No, not even Apple Though heaven knows they try On TV it's great if you can do it when you're 60 But it's better if you can do it when you're 6 Good for you if you can do it when you're healthy But it's a miracle if you can do it when you're sick Oh the world can be such a cruel place For someone who's just opening their eyes But they say that with time it gets better So go ahead and give it a few more good tries Cause a mammal's a mammal A human's an animal even if we can wear hats An ache is an ache, in the heart or the face And you can't fill the space with your cats It's hard to get by when you try and you try And they're lockin' you up in a cell But the thought means the most, even when you're a ghost Someone will remember you well

There's something moving in my bed There's something pulling on the thread Too many words were left unsaid Now I'm living with the dread Of what'll happen next All of the thoughts swim in my head Bob up and down until their dead But then I close my eyes for seconds Only seconds, now I tell you And they come alive again But you can't turn your back on the moment You mustn't only speak, no, you must show it I'm terrified I'll lose my mind or blow it That I'll miss it and I'll never even know it I can't stand up but won't sit down So I'll just lay here on the ground And contemplate the universe Of the blessing and the curse that is the human condition Fool me once or fool me twice I'll free the cats and hide the mice I'm digging with a butter knife to reach the meaning in this life But all I'm finding is jelly But you can't turn your back on the moment You mustn't only speak, no, you must show it I'm terrified I'll lose my mind or blow it That I'll miss it and I'll never even know it Don't lose me now Unfurl your brow Some way some how You've gotta hear the words I'm sayin' Sewing hopes that sit decayin' Open up and let me in Little pig, I see your grin! I'll huff and I'll puff until I win your trust And I won't even blow your house down No But you can't turn your back on the moment You mustn't only speak, no, you must show it I'm terrified I'll lose my mind or blow it That I'll miss it and I'll never even know it

Blind Man 03:32
Go and ask the poor man 'bout the revolution Ask 'em if he's ready to fight Go and ask the blind man standing on the corner What's his definition of sight? It's all in who you ask But judging by the past People want what they want And they do what they have to, to get by Go and ask the hustler tryin' to make a dollar What did bein' nice ever do? Go and ask the homeless 'bout the next election Ask 'em if they're voting for you It's all in who you ask But judging by the past People want what they want And they do what they have to, to get by From the US to Iraq It doesn't matter who you ask People want what they want And they do what they have to, to get by

Summer caught Sally singing prayers in the alley Running frantic from the rally on the main drag Whispering in melodies and languages unknown to me She said that God is up there keeping tallies When Summer dies and Sally cries She'll open up her lilly'd eyes And realize there's ugliness in beauty That there's as* much of good as bad Not every fist is iron clad But roses called by other names aren't roses, truly As the winter reaches up from down below to swallow us Sally will get on her knees again And sing about when Summer left Of all the days she sat and wept for days that past And days that haven't yet Up in the sky, oh my oh my The stars should all be fireflies The moon is so much larger than my hand And how is it that I am small So very small compared to it Still smaller and more mighty is the sand? Oh, Sally, so inquisitive Is there more than one life to live? The answer doesn't come quite easily The trees are tall and talking down And Sally listens to the sound As she watches fear outside her window She'll never have the answers to the questions in her mind But she'll remember Summer when she hears the wind blow

Make It Hard 02:22
Love don't come so easy For people who don't have a heart For those of us who still got 'em Heartless, thanks for makin' it hard I suppose it ain't your fault You go around all walled up Before you, I had 'em too Thanks for tearin' me apart Oh, thanks for makin' it hard I hate songs about love And songs about lack thereof So I especially don't like you right now Cause you've got me singin' and croonin' Oh, thanks for makin' it hard Love might come more easy Now that I know what it's like To go around loving some one Who can't love without spite Oh, thanks for makin' it easy To let you go To let you go

Big Mistake 01:45
I made a really really really big mistake I made a really really really big mistake There was a chance I wouldn't make it And the chance I had to take it Turns out it was a really big mistake I made a really really really big mistake I made a really really really big mistake There was a chance I wouldn't make it And the chance I had to take it Turns out it was the worst kind of mistake I made a really really really big mistake I made a really really really big mistake There was a chance I wouldn't make it And the chance I had to take it Turns out it was a really big mistake But I guess there's one good thing about mistakes Is that there's still a million more I'm gonna make There will be chances and I'll take em Those mistakes I'm gonna make em And hopefully I learn from my mistakes But sometimes Oh, man! I'm gonna make a million more real bad mistakes Yeah there's still a million more I'm gonna make Sometimes the only thing I learn is that it sucks to crash and burn There was a good luck spell that I just had to break I made a really really really big mistake I made a really really really big mistake There was a chance I wouldn't make it And the chance I had to take it Turns out it was the worst kind of mistake

about

"Patron Saints of the Ordinary is dedicated to those who have crosses to bear that are not recognized by major institutions or organized religion. Those of us who fight battles every day, internal or otherwise, & live our lives to the fullest even if our beliefs or actions are unpopular. The saints we know & hear about in churches have much in common with the free-thinkers & modest workers of today. We may not be holy, unflawed, or unblemished, but we are the patron saints of our own ordinary lives."
